A little about a lot

Okay...this should have been my first post into this blog. You're probably asking yourself,"What the heck is this blog all about?".My blog is just what the name implies"My Little Spot". It is a place I can go to share good and bad news,a place for me to vent,(probably a lot of venting),and to share my ideas on a wide range of subjects.First off I'd like to explain how this blog came into being.Last week or so my son says to me,why don't you join My Space. He is a member. So I joined.I noticed there was a blog included in the membership.I know very little about blogging,so I checked it out.I found that I enjoyed expressing myself in this way.And there is so much more to a blog, than the written word.I'm starting to learn there is a lot you can do to your blog.As far as text, color, adding backgrounds and images. And how you go about it,with all the codes and things. The more I learned, the more I want to learn. So in future posts I'll try and implement some of these things in my blog..I have had a computer for about 5 years now, everything I know thus far is self taught.I knew nothing before getting my first computer. So bare with me.I am learning this blog stuff as I go.
Last year I came across something called digital scrap booking. If you don't know what it is,just type it in to your search engine and go from there. It's unbelievable what's out there.Digital scrap booking is a wonderful way to share family memories through photos and journaling online. So very many people that are willing to share their talent and creativity for free. There are even websites that compile lists of freebies for you(a great time saver) which is great for me,because I would be on my computer 24/7 searching for freebies. And get absolutely nothing done around the house. What I do is limit myself to 2 or 3 of these sites. My favorites are *www.digifree.blogspot.com* and *www.digiscrapdepot.com*.Another cool site is *www.deviantart.com* ,tons of all sorts of images. Also brushes, action, etc for programs like Photoshop.I mainly use Photoshop Elements 2 and Print Master 18 for most of what I do.I purchased Photoshop Elements 5,but have not work with it a whole lot.The program is a little to big for my laptop and that's what I have been working on,because I can sit at the table with my honey instead of being stuck on my desktop at the other end of the house.I'm crossing my fingers that by Christmas time I'll have a laptop with a larger hard drive.Another helpful site I found is *www.photobucket.com*,you can upload your photos and images,it has a great little editing program. What's great it writes codes for you. That blows me away, makes things a whole lot easier when it comes to adding images to a blog.
I use the freebies all sorts of ways.I make all greeting cards for family and friends,I still paper scrapbook with them. Also I use them in decoupage projects,I give as gifts.Use them in all sorts of projects.
I'll share with you some online stores where you can purchase craft supplies at the lowest prices I've found.I always scour the web searching for the lowest price I can find.My latest project is to paint and decoupage images on to empty 1 gallon paint cans.Everybody loves them.I did each of my grand babies one as Easter baskets,at Easter. One had a theme of Sponge Bob and the other Ed,Edd and Eddie.I've done as gifts, themes of dolphins with various underwater plants and other small fish, butterflies and ivy and tigers with palm trees and tropical leaves.Right now I'm working on some for the deer hunters in the family.I purchased the paint cans at *www.bestcontainers.com* for $3.25 @ and that was with lid and handle.I had purchased these paints a few years ago at the Ames department store(before it went out of business) in my area a few years back and they were still good. The paints are ultra gloss acrylic enamels made by DecoArt,so i desided to check them out on the web.I found the DecoArt website.*www.decoart.com*.When going to Decoart I found they had a no prep metal paint,it works great on the paint cans.Decoart has clearance items, which I took full advantage of.
And now back to the free images you can download, some are for personal use only, but there are those out there that are commercial use.So be careful if you plan to sell something you use the images on.
I get my images many ways, wallpaper, gift wrap and online.Like the ivy I put on paint cans, came from a piece of wallpaper I scanned into my computer and printed it.Just use your imagination.I guess that I've prattled on long enough for this post.I am going to try and see if I can put up a couple of pics of the paint cans I've done.Bye...
